Stop Affirmative Action As We Know It!

Published December 16th, 2009 in Political Thoughts | No Comments »

Affirmative Action has been construed way beyond JFK’s original intent in 1961, and it now divides America more than it unites.  Candidates for jobs should be based on Merit not race.  Affirmative Action as we now have in America supports racial differences when selecting employees.  Martin Luther King Jr. did not want to get a job solely because he was a black American.  He wanted to get a job and have a chance at the American Dream based on his merits and personal character.  Colin Powell talked about Affirmative Action in his book My American Journey, and stated “if affirmative action means programs that provide equal opportunity, then I am all for it.  If it leads to preferential treatment or helps those who no longer need help, I am opposed.  I benefited from equal opportunity and affirmative action in the Army, but I was not shown preference.  The Army, as a matter of fairness, made sure that performance would be the only measure of advancement.  Affirmative action in the best sense promotes equal consideration, not reverse discrimination.  Discrimination ‘for’ one group means, inevitably, discrimination ‘against’ another; and all discrimination is offensive.” (1995, p. 608).  The current Affirmative Action laws are reverse discrimination and they need to be changed.  We need to make laws punishing segregationist, not laws inhibiting another form of discrimination.

She Said WHAT???

I just heard that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has decided not to put her atrocious health care catastrophe on the Internet for the people to read before there is a vote taken.

She doesn’t think we are smart enough to know what it says?  She thinks we wouldn’t be willing to at least scan read through the well over 2000 pages?  Does she really think that she can sneak this by without so much as a ‘by your leave’ from the American people?

What is this woman’s problem?! (more…)

When Three is the NOT Lowest Common Denominator

Three children have nine cupcakes.  Nine divided by three equals three.  Each child will have three cupcakes.

Equal distribution works every time, right?

Pretend two of the children are selfish.  They each want to have the most cupcakes so the two selfish children each steal a cupcake from the other child.  Now there are two children who have four cupcakes each and one totally unhappy child. (more…)

America’s Grand Jury Process

Americans are given the right of free speech in the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States – the first of the Bill of Rights without which the Constitution might not have been ratified.

Sarah Palin uses her First Amendment rights to speak up against causes for which she has knowledge, wisdom and experience.  The sad part is that she has to rely on an Internet social network, Facebook, to express her First Amendment rights.  This platform is the only way she has of getting her words, thoughts and ideas to the general public.  It is a given that if it doesn’t involve someone maligning Sarah Palin, nothing she says will be covered by the ONP – Obama National Press. ENTER SARAH PALIN – EXIT THE DRAGON

It is not my intention to make judgments as to the truth or falsehood of the policy or intention of my subject; or to equate the present administration with the wisdom or ignorance of the past.  I think it is important that we all understand the root of why so many of us are frightened by the suggestion of changing America from the Democratic Republic we have been blessed to live in for our entire lives or that legal immigrants made a choice to live in for the rest of theirs.  You must clearly understand that these are my personal opinions and I represent no other person, group or organization as I write this.  You also need to know that I am not now, nor have I ever been a member of any political party.

Not hard to understand

“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”
