Indoctrination in Wicomico County Public Schools

Published December 9th, 2009 in Editorials, Local Salisbury Politics, Maryland Politics, Political Thoughts, Wicomico County News | No Comments »

My children came home from school last week  saying that in their 4th Grade SCIENCE class they were required to watch the following video. They were given a hand out of the lyrics to take home.

Yes We Can Song

They were then instructed after watching the video to; “write a paragraph on how they could help the world.”

My daughter tapped the teacher and privately said; “but I don’t like Obama.” The teacher then announced to the entire class:

“Hey everybody, this child (her name) said she doesn’t like Obama, but that doesn’t mean you don’t like his speeches.”

My kid says they then had to turn in the assignment for grading I presume.

My daughters came home and said; “I don’t understand why we had to watch the video. Why couldn’t we just have been asked what we can do to help the world?”

Smart kid.

I have rightfully made a huge stink about this and have been attacked for it.

More details soon.

Reality is Lost on our Politicians

Published December 2nd, 2009 in 912 Candidates, Chris Lewis For Congress, Editorials, Political Thoughts | No Comments »

The reality of the regular American is lost on our politicians.   While on the never ending campaign trail, politicians continue to say that they understand what the working person goes through.  However, a closer look at their budgets say otherwise.  Here are some of the staff salaries of the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi:

These amounts are paid QUARTERLY!

Brendan Daly, Communications Director:  $43,125.00

Joseph Onek, Senior Counsel to the Speaker:  $43,125.00

Wyndee R. Parker, Senior Policy Advisor:  $43,125.00

Reva B. Price, Policy Advisor:  $23,780.00

Ellen S. Qualls, Sr Adv for Strategic Planning:  $42,127.08

John K. Brennan, Special Assistant:  $31,385.01

Diane Dewhirst, Senior Advisor:  $28,500.00

Nadeem Elshami, Deputy Communications Director:  $37,692.75

Bridget C. Fallon, Director of Protocol:  $30,770.51

Jerry Hartz, Dir. of Floor Operations:  $41,305.76

Jamie E. Lizarraga, Dir. Mem. Serv/Sr. Ad.:  $40,962.50

Melinda L. Medlin, Director of Scheduling:  $36,000.01

Catlin W. O’Neal, Deputy Floor Assistant:  $30,273.75

Cheryl P. Rose, Dir. of Intergov’t Affairs:  $38,793.75

Jonothan Stivers, Senior Advisor:  $31,091.99

Charles R. Wooters II, Director:  $34,499.99

These are just the names and salaries of just some of Mrs. Pelosi’s staff, and remember, these salaries are paid every quarter.  How can our politicians say they understand what the people go through when they have staffs that have so much redundancy and such high budgets.  The problem is the system and the republicans are just as much to blame as the Democrats.  Now is the time for a change, by the people, and for the people.  When regular Americans run for office, then we will truly have politicians who understand the people.

Rick Pollitt Under Fire: Effort to Repeal the Wicomico Revenue Cap

Published November 22nd, 2009 in Local Salisbury Politics, Maryland Politics, Political Thoughts, Wicomico County News | No Comments »

In reviewing various reports on sbynews, the Daily Times, as well as some emails in my inbox regarding people’s concern and their reverberation of my earlier prediction that Rick Pollitt is creating the “perfect storm” to set up the argument that the revenue cap needs to be repealed. it now seems to be becoming a populist notion. Why? Well, Pollitt’s own proposal to deal with the issues of the budget shortfall leaves quite a bit of writing on the wall, given his stop gap measure doesn’t address the real issues of the problem: OVER SPENDING.

Pollitt is taking fire for using the budget economic problems, partially caused by his own mis-management of tax funds to raise taxes.

Additionally his staff and paid “spokesperson” Jim Fineran, along with Patricia Petersen, Wicomico County’s director of finance, is out there speaking for Pollitt because he seems to have some aversion to speaking to the residents of Wicomico County himself. Some of wonder why he’s above speaking directly to the people who pay his salary.

Goodness knows having all these people speak for Rick is a prime example of tax dollar waste.

“Now is the time to organize at the grass-roots level in time for a voter referendum question on the cap to be placed on the November 2010 election ballot, Patricia Petersen, Wicomico County’s director of finance, told the audience of about two dozen residents.

In the midst of a county budget crisis and national recession severely limiting incoming revenue, voters are urged to consider options to the current cap that, if not modified, is certain to adversely impact the level of resident services and reduce government programs and employees, said Petersen, who said she favored a cap modification. Attempting to eliminate the cap all together would be unrealistic, she said.

“We have cash-flow issues; we expect revenue to decline $6.1 million, or 5.3 percent, in fiscal year 2011,” Petersen said. “We will retain core services, but some of the nice things may go away.”

I’m very disappointed that Pollitt’s first action is to target the NAACP. Such a tactic is pretty transparent. NAACP president, Mary Ashanti, is a sharp lady and I hope that she uses all the resources available to her to study the core issues and the desired outcomes from the county executive branch, knowing that the members of her group and their objectives are not being accomplished by raising taxes.

While the Wicomico branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People has taken no position on the issue, President Mary Ashanti told the audience that the nonpartisan civil and human rights organization is available to work with community organizations interested in mobilizing educational sessions about the impact of the cap and proposed revenue-generating options.

“We are about civil rights and human rights, and (county services) are along the line of the mission of the NAACP,” Ashanti told the audience that gathered at First Baptist Church off Delaware Avenue and Booth Street. “I advise you to invite county (leaders) to speak to your group, and this should be done quickly. I’m hoping that in a few days, that you’ll talk to somebody you influence.”

Even more astounding was the blatant “Organizing for America” tactic that Fineran used, as he transparently tries to start a groundswell in support for raising taxes.

Jim Fineran, Wicomico County spokesman, urged residents to attend Wicomico County Council meetings and raise questions regarding the revenue cap, saying they would undoubtedly get the attention of elected officials. He also reminded the audience that VOICE founder Don Coffin, who mobilized support for the revenue cap, was defeated in a subsequent bid for a seat on the County Council. On the other hand, County Executive Rick Pollitt, who had opposed the 2 percent cap, won his seat as top Wicomico executive.

“I guarantee you, if one or two of you said you wanted to take a look at this, you’d get their attention,” he said.

At least 10,000 valid voter signatures would be required by next August in order to have the revenue cap question on the November 2010 ballot.

So this is Pollitts‘ idea of “grass roots”? Have your minions go out and threaten people with loss, without providing all the facts and tell them to demand Wicomico raise Somebody Else’s Taxes to cover for our Executives mismanagement of our tax dollars.

OK. Got it.

Not once did they mention that we have a little issue with how we spend out money.

Letter From A Patriot

Dear Sen. —,
Please fight this unconstitutional health bill plan Reid and Pelosi are so determined to force upon the American people.
In fact, I hope you will support the two-page amendment, HR 615, courtesy of Republican Tom Coburn which would require all Members of Congress and their staff members to enroll in any new government-run health plan. I believe this is stated in the Federal Papers as a must, but I can’t prove it.
We would probably find the health plan you all have to be sufficiently good that we would overlook the lack of Constitutional backing of Congress with touching health matters.
This and the so-called “Cap and Trade” bills are making the American people see Congress as something fear in its present membership, and not as our representatives in anything other than name.
And the anger is so very deep; the lack of trust is almost completely gone.
Please do not vote for the health bills unless they duplicate what we pay for yours.
Sincerely

xxxxxx

Latest Endorsement For Conservative Party of Maryland

Published November 14th, 2009 in Chris Lewis For Congress, Political Thoughts | No Comments »

My friends in Maryland, I am proud today to announce my support for a candidate for Congress in your first district. He is the only true conservative in the running. That candidate is Mr. Chris Lewis the Conservative Party candidate. He is not a career politician but an average, hard-working citizen.

Big business and the super rich control congress right now. The founding fathers never wanted the representatives to supersede over the citizens. Congress was put into place so the citizens can represent the people that elected them. Politicians, today, say they fell your pain. I say to those politicians, do you have problems paying bills; Making ends meet, and being laid off from work. No, some of these super rich men and women have not had to struggle and pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

Therefore, my friends do not vote in these same people to congress, place congress back into the hands of the people, and that citizen is conservative Chris Lewis.

Signatures for the 2010 Maryland Ballot

Published November 14th, 2009 in 912 Candidates, Chris Lewis For Congress, Political Thoughts | No Comments »

In order for the Conservative Party to make it onto the ballot for the 2010 elections, we need 10,000 signatures from registered Maryland voters.  We have more than several volunteers throughout the state in the process of collecting those signatures now.  It may seem like a lot, however, it is certainly well within our reach.  Here is the link that any registered Maryland voter can go to in order to download the form:

Just print out the form, fill it out and mail it to:

It is time for the citizens of Maryland and the United States to challenge the power structure of the corrupt two party system.  In election after election we hear what candidates from both parties will do once elected and in most cases once in the seat, they vote along party lines and not with their constituency.  We must hold politicians accountable for their votes and we must choose candidates that will represent the people, not their own self interest.  The tea parties, town hall meetings and the marches on D.C.  are just the beginning.

America is great because of the people, not the government.  Make sure your voice is heard and lets vote out all incumbents and restore our freedoms and liberties.  The time of the Conservative Party is now.  Patriotically correct, not politically correct…………

Support Your Local Conservative

Published November 14th, 2009 in Editorials, Political Thoughts | No Comments »

A gentleman I know is really quite fed up with the Republican Party and the nonsense they have been promoting as candidates and issues recently.  He received a request for funds from his Congressional District in the form of a survey.

Like most of us who have formerly supported Republican candidates, he has come to the same conclusion others have.  “You’re not playing, so we’re not paying.”

He penned a letter and returned it in the survey envelope.  He gave me permission to reprint it here:

I want you to know how extremely offended I was to receive your “2010 Congressional District Survey” fundraising packet in the mail today.

You need to know that not only will I not be contributing to the Republican Party, but I fully intend to vote against every single Republican incumbent in every election in 2010.

I find it to be blatantly egregious and hypocritical that the Republican Party in Congress and the Senate are conducting business as usual when a usurper, a treasonous fraud, and a hate-America Communist agent is illegally occupying the office of the president.

Surely you all are aware of the almost 2 million protestors who came to Washington DC on September 11. You must be aware of the millions of pink slips that have been flooding into Congressmen’s offices.

[…]
You need to get off your duffs, dust off your copies of the
United States Constitution and remove the usurper from office. While you are doing that, read your Republican Party platform, and abide by it.

If you fail to do that, you’d better have some true conservative Republicans in future races, because I and millions like me are going to send incumbent Republicans packing – possibly spelling the end of the Republican Party.

Nice letter, don’t you think?  Quite truthful as well.  So many people I know who have always considered themselves Republican are being more and more disenchanted with the Republican Party.  Justifiably, they are pulling their support from the Republicans both with their votes and with their donations.

I have always thought of myself as independent; I prefer to vote the man rather than the party.  Since the inception and growth of the Independent Party, I have gradually leaned away from them just as I have from the Republican Party.

I believe in God, family and country.  I support our military above their Commander-in-Chief – especially in the case of THIS commander-in-chief.  As I age, gracefully I hope, I am becoming more Conservative by the minute.  I am finished with any candidate who will tell me they support my views “except under conditions of…”

There are no conditions.  You are Conservative or you aren’t.  I am and so is my friend who wrote the letter.  It seems the Congressional District letter didn’t reach them in time for them to pass the word down their money-chain.

A few days later, he received the same kind of letter from his County Republican Committee.  Once again, he sat down with pen in hand….

Thank you for sending the notice about honoring our heroes. Our son is about to go off into the military, so those are sentiments that are close to our hearts right now.

However, you need to know that there are many folks like me who are extremely upset at the Republican Party right now. I’m a Republican. I’ve voted Republican for all of my adult life. I do truly believe that there existed a great divide between the hate-America Democrats and what
used to be the patriotic America-loving Republican Party. Unfortunately, from what we are seeing these days, the divide is not that great — if it even exists at all.

I’m afraid that not only can I not support the Republican Party with my loyalty and donations, but I am determined to do everything I can to help remove ALL incumbent Republicans from ALL offices come the next elections.

For the same reasons he provides to the Republican offices in his state and county, I am doing what I can to support the Conservative Party – USA because I believe in the values, opinions and ideas that they espouse on the national site as well as these individual State sites.

While I do not represent them when I speak, I do support the same candidates because I recognize that the only way I as an American citizen can change anything is with my vote.  In order to have a candidate for me to vote for, I must donate a little money.  Actually, if I had access to more, I would donate more.

In talking with some of the Conservative candidates in recent elections as well as some in upcoming elections, it has been made clear to me that my money can not do anything by itself regardless of whether I give $10 or $10,000.  It takes all of us working together.

If you consider yourself Conservative, I urge you to put your money literally where your mouth is.  Support Conservative candidates seeking election in your area.  If you have money to spare, I know the Conservative Party organizations would appreciate your support as well.

We have many problems in our government from the local level all the way to the top of the federal level.  America is a land of freedom, and our freedoms are at stake.  Our very Constitution is at risk of being ripped apart by the (choose one) Socialists, Marxists, Communists and all-around-American-haters who are serving us in elected office.  We alone can stop this charge.

Banding together to do anything and everything we can as individuals to elect the right people to represent us will gradually undo some if not all of the damage these unqualified people have done to our nation.  We must start now.  Delay causes defeat and defeat is NOT an option!

There is another organization working hard to take our nation back, and I would encourage you to join their efforts as well.  The American Grand Jury seeks proof positive that the man who calls himself our president is a Constitutionally elected office-holder.  If Obama has nothing to hide; if he made a mistake when he said that his father was a Kenyan (which would make Obama at the very least a British-born citizen rather than a Native-born American citizen as the Constitution requires; if he can produce evidence to convince me and others that he is indeed qualified to hold that office I am willing to continue fighting against what will surely be his re-election campaign in 2012.  Otherwise, I want him removed in chains from the people’s house and tried for treason as the Constitution demands.

Our Conservative goals can be reached.  It will require all of us working together as one voice.  To quote my favorite politician, Governor Sarah Palin, “Government is supposed to work for the people; not the other way round.”

Five Key Reasons

Published November 9th, 2009 in Political Thoughts | No Comments »

Although the reasons why true conservatives should leave the RNC are manifold,

they can all be condensed and represented within these five Key Reasons.

Reason 1: The Republican Party Has Lost Its Core Values
Reason 2: Republicans Lack Real Leadership or Vision
Reason 3: Conservative Party will Provide a Genuine and Unambiguous Conservative Platform
Reason 4: Conservative Party won’t Marginalize Conservatives
Reason 5: Conservative Party will exert a much needed rightward pull on the body politic.

Reason 1: The Republican Party Has Lost Its Core Values
No one would have ever imagined that a Republican controlled Congress led by a Republican President could have ever outspent any modern era Democrat administration by fourfold in non-defense spending. During the past nine years the Republicans have helped: doubled the national debt; allowed Earmarks to explode; increased the budget deficit each year; let the trade deficit triple; seen more of our membership indicted or jailed for corruption than the previous 10 years combined; allowed illegal immigration to explode; failed to protect and defend US borders.  In addition, Republicans have never filibustered or vetoed any spending bill no matter how pork-laden; failed to curb abortion-on-demand or late-term abortions; overseen rising national drug use; allowed the liberal media set our agenda and pick its candidates (John McCain); stood by while the homosexual agenda gained strength; and let school prayer and private school vouchers get squashed.  Of course the RNC’s direct support of the Liberal Republican in NY-23 is but the lastest manifistation of these problems.

Reason 2: Republicans Lack Real Leadership or Vision
While giving credit for enacting the Bush tax cut, Republicans have not promulgated any far-reaching, bold or visionary legislative initiatives since the Newt Gingridge Contract For America.  Nothing new about reducing America’s dependency on foreign oil (“Drill baby drill” is not an energy policy) or growing our renewable energy infrastructure.  Nothing on stopping illegal immigration (Where is Tom Trancedo now?).  Nothing on solving the growing health care problem.  Nothing on improving education except for No Child Left Behind….a Ted Kennedy bill.  At the risk of sounding like a New York Times editorial, Republicans have become risk averse and provincial.

Question: What current Republican politician really excites or motivates conservatives? John McCain?  His time has come and gone.  Sarah Palin?  Wow.  Mitt Romney? Serious man. Tim Pawlenty?Maybe.  There are more Republicans in jail on corruption charges than ready to step up and lead Republicans to victory let alone Conservatives.  They certainly don’t have anyone ready to challenge the Messiah, Barack Obama.

While Reasons 1 and 2 outline a partial litany of valid reasons why Conservatives should leave the RNC, Reasons 3 – 5 provide the rationale for joining the Conservative Party USA.

Reason 3: Conservative Party USA Provides a Genuine and Unambiguous Conservative Platform
No matter what the main stream media, Arlen Specter and Colin Powell tell you, candidates who adhere to a solid conservative platform can – and do – win elections.  John McCain lost for a myriad of reasons not the least of which was failing to energize the Conservative base. Even Sarah Palin’s pretty skirts couldn’t hide McCain’s long, less-than-conservative voting record (against the Bush tax cuts; McCain-Feingold; Amnesty for illegals, etc.).

Conservative Party USA will appeal to a large, solid base of energized (and loyal) conservative voters because it will finally give voice to their long-held aspirations.  Make no mistake, most Americans are actually conservative. Conservatives can then present a clear, genuine and robust agenda without regard to media musings and all those squishy RINO’s.  God love ‘em but conservative Republicans (both of them) just don’t have the spine to withstand the negative media assaults or lack of RNC support.

A clear, common sense platform built on an unshakable conservative foundation will become a powerful political entity fully capable of withstanding the liberal whirlwinds racing across America today. “Build it and they will come.” In droves. Especially after a few years of the über Liberal Obama administration has the chance to shows its true colors. Recent defeats in New Jersey and Viginia attest to this truth.

Reason 4: Conservative Party USA Won’t Marginalize Conservatives
The RNC has historically marginalized conservatives during election cycles and just flat out ignored them between in the off years.  It is unconscionable that John McCain, the Republican Party nominee for President of the United States, supported giving amnesty, health care, SSN numbers and drivers licenses to illegal aliens.  It is incredible that, until his last year, the Republican President never vetoed any of the pork-laden budgets most of which were crafted by a GOP led Congress.

Conservatives are required to compromise, suppress or conceal their principles to remain part of the Republican Party.  They are forced go along to get along to appeal to that mythical “Big Tent”.  Sadly, that Tent is now swarming with snakes (Liberal media), RINO’s (Moderate Republicans), donkeys (Democrats), coyotes (Illegal alien jockeys) and marshmallows (Independents).  Instead of a politically harmonized party led by strong GOP elephants, the RNC has devolved into a weak, ineffective horde that looks like the bar scene crowd in the first Star Wars movie. The RNC now stands for the “RINO National Committee”.

The Conservative Party will stop all this nonsense by building a local, regional and national support base for conservatives.  We will no longer be ignored, kept at arms length, held hostage or taken for granted by the RNC.  Most importantly, however, Conservative Party will create a legitimate and politically viable alternative to the RNC.  And that’s the KEY point in this whole movement.

The four Reasons shown above illustrate why Conservatives should disown the rudderless and soft Republicans and made the case for creating the Conservative Party.  Reason five is logical conclusion that bundles them into a unified concept.

Reason 5: Conservative Party USA will exert a much needed rightward pull on the body politic.
Conservative Party gives conservatives a strong political support base (a Party) that allows them to formulate genuine conservative agendas and to articulate their views to the American people without reservation.  The Party then creates the political environment that will encourage members to run for elected office and populate the halls of State legislators and the US Congress.  We won’t win in anything in Berkeley or Hollywood but will be very powerful in other parts of California, most of Texas, Utah, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Georgia and hundreds of county seats in the rest of America’s fruited plains.  One voter, one county, one Representative, one Senator….at a time.

Conservatives must change their mindset which wrongly assumes that gaining a majority is the only way to “win”.   While the Conservative Party won’t initially garner majorities in any State or US Congress, it will gradually grow to exert a strong, constant rightward pull on America’s political landscape.  Not only will Party gradually become strong center of gravity on its own, it will also – irony of ironies – make the Republican Party better by default (See Reason 4).

At long last conservatives will be able to stand tall, hold their heads high, give unwavering voice their agenda and build a strong, durable conservative platform.
