Which Piece of the Puzzle Are You?

Published December 12th, 2009 in Editorials | No Comments »

Have you ever given any thought to whether or not you are actually classified as a Republican, a Democrat, an Independent or Whocares?  And why is this important in the first place?

The Republican Party Platform

The most comprehensive information I could find comes from the 2008 platform.  I’ll try to shorten the 67 pages of the PDF file for you. (more…)

Indoctrination in Wicomico County Public Schools

Published December 9th, 2009 in Editorials, Local Salisbury Politics, Maryland Politics, Political Thoughts, Wicomico County News | No Comments »

My children came home from school last week  saying that in their 4th Grade SCIENCE class they were required to watch the following video. They were given a hand out of the lyrics to take home.

Yes We Can Song

They were then instructed after watching the video to; “write a paragraph on how they could help the world.”

My daughter tapped the teacher and privately said; “but I don’t like Obama.” The teacher then announced to the entire class:

“Hey everybody, this child (her name) said she doesn’t like Obama, but that doesn’t mean you don’t like his speeches.”

My kid says they then had to turn in the assignment for grading I presume.

My daughters came home and said; “I don’t understand why we had to watch the video. Why couldn’t we just have been asked what we can do to help the world?”

Smart kid.

I have rightfully made a huge stink about this and have been attacked for it.

More details soon.

Reality is Lost on our Politicians

Published December 2nd, 2009 in 912 Candidates, Chris Lewis For Congress, Editorials, Political Thoughts | No Comments »

The reality of the regular American is lost on our politicians.   While on the never ending campaign trail, politicians continue to say that they understand what the working person goes through.  However, a closer look at their budgets say otherwise.  Here are some of the staff salaries of the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi:

These amounts are paid QUARTERLY!

Brendan Daly, Communications Director:  $43,125.00

Joseph Onek, Senior Counsel to the Speaker:  $43,125.00

Wyndee R. Parker, Senior Policy Advisor:  $43,125.00

Reva B. Price, Policy Advisor:  $23,780.00

Ellen S. Qualls, Sr Adv for Strategic Planning:  $42,127.08

John K. Brennan, Special Assistant:  $31,385.01

Diane Dewhirst, Senior Advisor:  $28,500.00

Nadeem Elshami, Deputy Communications Director:  $37,692.75

Bridget C. Fallon, Director of Protocol:  $30,770.51

Jerry Hartz, Dir. of Floor Operations:  $41,305.76

Jamie E. Lizarraga, Dir. Mem. Serv/Sr. Ad.:  $40,962.50

Melinda L. Medlin, Director of Scheduling:  $36,000.01

Catlin W. O’Neal, Deputy Floor Assistant:  $30,273.75

Cheryl P. Rose, Dir. of Intergov’t Affairs:  $38,793.75

Jonothan Stivers, Senior Advisor:  $31,091.99

Charles R. Wooters II, Director:  $34,499.99

These are just the names and salaries of just some of Mrs. Pelosi’s staff, and remember, these salaries are paid every quarter.  How can our politicians say they understand what the people go through when they have staffs that have so much redundancy and such high budgets.  The problem is the system and the republicans are just as much to blame as the Democrats.  Now is the time for a change, by the people, and for the people.  When regular Americans run for office, then we will truly have politicians who understand the people.
