Opportunity is Knocking – Come to the Party!

November 7th, 2009 in Political Thoughts | No Comments »

Now is the time for conservative voices to be heard. Whether at the state or national level, people are voicing their dislike of just how things are, politically, in this country.

The Democrats will push how the governor’s races in New Jersey and Virginia were not really any sort of mandate on their national policies. To the contrary, New Jersey represented the corruption in the state and their economic situation, and Virginia, well, that was all due to the incompetence of the Democratic candidate. The only race that really counted, and I have already heard this, was that of the 23rd Congressional District in New York. That remains to be seen. The winner, Owens, does have to run again a mere twelve months from now. In that Obama carried the three aforementioned states in 2008, and campaigned for both of those running for governor, what the Democrats should be noticing is, their President seems to be lacking in the area of coattails. Not hard to understand

“You cannot legislate the poor into freedom by legislating the wealthy out of freedom.  What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else.  When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation.  You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”

Time to Turn Back

April 29th, 2009 in Uncategorized | No Comments »

Identifying oneself with the Conservative Party can often bring forth a barrage of comments that we, as Conservatives, are a “party of the past”, that we are “always looking back, never forward”, and so on. This is probably meant as criticism, but the truth of the matter is that there are periods in history where retreat was, and is, smart. And not just in warfare.

C. S. Lewis, 1898-1963, was a noted Irish author and scholar, and an outstanding Oxford academic. In lectures given by him in the mid-1940′s, there are two quotations from his series, “Right and Wrong” that can be seen as a clue to the meaning of the Universe. Doctor Lewis first sets up an image with the rhetorical statement that “you can’t put the clock back.” He then comments, “Would you think I was joking if I said that you can put a clock back, and that if the clock is wrong, it’s often the sensible thing to do?”

He then follows with  this brilliant statement: “If you’re on the wrong road, progress means doing an about-turn and walking back to the right road; and in that case the man who turns back soonest is the most progressive man.”

I submit to you that the Conservative Party is now the most progressive political party because it is the first party to totally turn “soonest” to the noble documents, all the documents, offerred up by the Founding Fathers of this great nation. Our sole mission is to re-establish the limits and boundaries of Government as framed by the Founding Fathers of the United States of America.

Ladies and Genglemen, we are on the wrong road. Time to turn back before  it’s too late.
